Our Mission

Free Insurance Calculators
You Can Actually Trust

HowMuchCover exists because most insurance "calculators" are lead-generation forms in disguise. We built free, genuinely independent tools β€” no email required, no agent follow-up calls, no commission-driven recommendations.

What We Do

HowMuchCover provides 120+ free insurance calculators covering life insurance, health insurance, income protection, pet insurance, cyber liability, EV insurance, freelancer insurance, and more. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser β€” we collect no personal data, sell no leads, and have no commercial relationship with any insurance provider.

Our calculators use industry-standard methodologies: the Human Life Value (HLV) method for life insurance, ACA benchmark data for health insurance, NAPHIA industry data for pet insurance, IBM Cost of a Data Breach report for cyber coverage, and IRS-published figures for tax and HSA calculations.

Editorial Standards & Review Process

Reviewed by a Qualified Chartered Accountant

Our calculator methodologies, tax figures, and financial assumptions are reviewed by a Qualified CA (Chartered Accountant). This ensures that the formulas, rate tables, and coverage recommendations reflect current regulatory and actuarial standards.

Primary Sources Only

We cite primary sources: IRS Revenue Procedures for tax and HSA limits, CMS for ACA figures, NAPHIA State of the Industry reports for pet insurance, IBM Cost of a Data Breach for cyber coverage, AVMA for veterinary costs, and OFA for breed-specific orthopedic data.

Annually Updated

Regulatory figures change yearly. We update tax brackets, HSA limits, ACA out-of-pocket maximums, and FPL thresholds each year when IRS and HHS publish new figures. Each calculator displays the tax year or plan year it reflects.

No Commercial Conflicts

We are not affiliated with, compensated by, or owned by any insurance company, broker, or agency. We do not sell insurance leads. Our only revenue model is display advertising, which does not influence calculator outputs or editorial recommendations.

Important Limitations

Educational estimates only. Our calculators produce estimates based on commonly accepted formulas and industry averages. They do not constitute insurance advice, financial advice, or legal advice.

Not a replacement for professional guidance. Insurance needs are highly personal. Factors like specific health history, employer-sponsored coverage, state-specific regulations, and individual underwriting criteria are beyond the scope of a calculator. Always consult a licensed insurance broker or financial advisor in your jurisdiction before purchasing coverage.

No personal data collected. All calculations happen in your browser. We do not store, transmit, or sell any information you enter into our calculators.
